Nate Diaz shocks the world and stuns UFC featherweight champion, Conor McGregor, in the second round in the UFC 196 main event in Las Vegas, Nevada.
No UFC lightweight title fight for Conor McGregor, but a money fight for the ages against Nate Diaz; a “heavyweight” paycheck is not something “The Notorious” would ever turn down.
“The Notorious” Conor McGregor continues to step up and fight anyone in his path en route to becoming the first publicly disclosed UFC fighter to receive a cool $1 million guaranteed.
Not to be laughed at, Stockton’s own Nate Diaz brings in $500k to step in on late notice. Diaz put on a boxing clinic in his last bout against lightweight top ten fighter, Michael Johnson. Picking up a victory over the biggest star in the UFC as of right now would mean worlds for Nate Diaz and crew.
It is not known what will come next for either fighter. Conor McGregor assumes he will be a big part of UFC 200 if he comes out of this fight unscathed. It’s just a matter on whom he will face, Robbie Lawler, Rafael dos Anjos, or Frankie Edgar? All match ups that make sense with a victory at UFC 196.
Round 1: Conor comes out swinging early, misses with a left but then connects with a left. McGregor is pressing early, Nate clinches up with him but Conor shrugs him off the cage. Conor has landed two thunderous left hands but Nate seems to be taking it early and moving away. McGregor mixing in kicks, staying in the pocket with prestine movement. Diaz cracks Conor with a right hook, McGregor pops him with a leg kick. Conor keeps looking for an uppercut, has landed two but Diaz taking the shots. Diaz gets planted with another left hook, but gives his own right hand. Diaz now busted up, but he’s landing some nice jabs but Conor connects with another left hand. Diaz takes down McGregor with 20 seconds left, McGregor sweeps and is now in Nate’s guard. Conor lands some shots as the round ends.
Round 2: McGregor talking a little bit, looking for that spinning heel kick. Jabs to the body, kick to the stomach, Diaz not answering yet. Conor lands a thudding body shot to Diaz, Diaz circles away instantly. McGregor finding a home for his left hand, looking for the uppercut again, Nate clinches up. Conor gets out and starts pouring it on again, Diaz is bleeding profusely but is answering Conor’s shots now mocking Conor. Nate landing some jabs, McGregor clinches and lands a knee, plants Nate with an uppercut. Diaz tags Conor with a left hand, McGregor is dazed! Now Conor is fending off the shots, trying to survive! McGregor fending off Diaz is Nate is looking to land. Conor comes back and plants Diaz! Conor is in trouble! they go down to the mat and Diaz is tee’ing off,Conor turns over and Diaz sinks in the choke! It’s over, Conor taps out! What an amazing night of fights ladies and gents!
